EA, Microsoft nominated for ‘Worst Company in America’

The Consumerist's annual "Worst Company in America" bracket is back and, once again, video game publisher Electronic Arts is a contender. A little unfair if you ask me, given how many truly despicable corporations there are in this country. Then again, when you're the two-time reigning champion of the competition I suppose you have to be invited back to defend your throne, regardless of whether or not you're actually deserving of the title.

Joining EA from the video game sector is Microsoft, though it may be for reasons other than the Xbox One. Also, where the f*ck is King in this bracket? I mean, the damn company wanted to trademark the word "candy!"

The usual contenders (Sallie Mae, Walmart, Bank of America, Delta) are back again, joined by a few newcomers (Koch Industries, Sea World). I have to admit I'm a little surprised to see CVS on the list given the company's white knight stance on tobacco. Also, Target being on the list is somewhat surprising; everybody loves Target!

During last year's competition, EA's Chief Operating Officer Peter Moore took to the company blog to campaign against your vote. Although he admitted the company has made plenty of mistakes, he acknowledged that he was "damn proud of [EA]." Still, he vowed that they can "do better." But have they?

You can cast your vote for Worst Company in America starting tomorrow, March 19.
