Publisher/developer Electronic Arts, who has a number of launch titles for the PlayStation 4, has confirmed that the PS4's day-one firmware update (version 1.50) is causing "stability issues" while playing games on the new system.
Although the update is mandatory to play games on the PS4, it is required for a number of other features on the next-gen console including Vita remote play and gameplay sharing.
Apparently, the issue is affecting all games one the PS4 including, but not limited to EA titles. According to EA the update is causing "crashing/freezing and non-responsive connections between the player's console and their TV Screen."
EA made note that this is an issue with Sony's firmware and requires a new update to fix it.
"Sony is working to resolve the issue as quickly as they can," EA concluded. "They will update their System Update page as new versions are made available, and we will keep this page updated as we find out more."
