EA remains number one publisher on Xbox One and PS4 in the west

Publishing-giant Electronic Arts has revealed that, calendar year-to-date, they continue to be the number one publisher on Xbox One and PS4 in the Western World. So say what you want about them having bad business practices, you're still buying their games.

EA attributed their success on Xbox One and PS4 to games like FIFA 14, Titanfall, Battlefield 4, and EA Sports UFC. Back at E3, Electronic Arts COO Peter Moore told Game Informer that Titanfall is the "best-selling title on Xbox One lifetime to date." Specific sales numbers haven't been released, but I'll take his word for it. Of course, Battlefield 4's and FIFA 14's success shouldn't come as too much of a surprise either — those franchises tend to sell incredibly well regardless of platform.

Looking ahead, with Battlefield Hardilne, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Star Wars: Battlefront, FIFA 15, and a new Mass Effect all on the horizon, I see no reason why EA would slip from its position at the top.

EA revealed its position atop the next-gen publisher throne during today's financial results report for its first fiscal quarter, ended Jun 30, 2014. For the quarter, EA reported non-GAAP net revenue of $775 million.
