It's no secret that Bulletstorm didn't sell too many copies. The EA-published first-person shooter was developed by the Epic Games subsidiary People Can Fly, and it seemed to deliver a unique experience. Most reviewers stated that it took a bit of time to get to the tasty center of the game, but when you got there, it was a solid blast-fest.
In an interview with GameSpot, Epic President Mike Capps stated that piracy was the reason for the PC version's low number of sales. "We made a PC version of Bulletstorm, and it didn't do very well on PC and I think a lot of that was due to piracy," said Capps. "It wasn't the best PC port ever, sure, but also piracy was a pretty big problem."
Additionally, a sequel to Bulletstorm was planned, and Epic even had People Can Fly on the assignment. Ultimately, however, the developer was transferred over to a project that Epic felt would be a "better fit." As for what that game is, the Epic boss confirmed that we can expect some news soon.
I feel kind of bad. I played the demo for Bulletstorm, and I was genuinely intrigued by the game. I never did end up buying it, though. Funny thing is I still really want to play the full game, so I may eventually shell out the cash for it. It kind of sucks knowing that, even if I like Bulletstorm, there probably won't be a sequel.
