European retailer pulls Wii U consoles, games from store shelves

European retailer Asda (think the UK version of Walmart) is no longer carrying Wii U consoles or its games in store. While not having a presence in one of the UK's largest retailers is a certain blow for Nintendo, the retailer will continue to sell Wii U products online via its Asda Direct website.

"Asda continues to offer customers a selection of Wii U games and accessories through Asda Direct, but these ranges are currently not on offer in Asda shops," a spokesperson told Eurogamer.

No reason was given as to why the retailer will no longer carry Wii U related items in store, but it seems an odd time to make such a decision given the release of Pikmin 3 and the New Super Mario Bros. standalone expansion New Super Luigi U.
