The BioShock fan in me is squeeing with abundant anticipation and lust for the new BioShock Infinite DLC announced; we all know we’ve wanted to somehow return to Rapture with the new engine and graphics. With today’s announcement from Irrational Games, we now know that opportunity will soon fall into our laps! Not only as one DLC but as a two parter telling a brand new story of Booker and Elizabeth in this underwater utopia. These DLC is called Burial at Sea and will cost $15 or 1200 Microsoft Points individually. They will also be part of the $20 season pass – I think I see the better deal here is.
Speaking of better deal, coming out TODAY as in 7/30, the first of the three DLCs is being released. This Clash in the Clouds is full of challenges and combat opportunities. Basically you will be pitted with tasks to fight through and you can earn 60 Blue Ribbons in that process that will unlock exclusive Voxophones, Kinetoscopes, and more. So while the gameplay of this DLC will be an all-out slugfest, the unlocks seem to have the potential to add more story to the game. While this doesn’t blow my skirt up as much as Burial at Sea does, I’m still preeeeetty excited for it. This DLC will cost you $5 or 400 Microsoft Points – also part of the season pass.
“We are really excited to offer our fans the content that they have been asking for,” said Ken Levine, creative director of Irrational Games. “With Clash in the Clouds, people get a pure action experience that takes BioShock Infinite combat to its highest challenge and intensity level. With the Burial at Sea episodes, we are building a Rapture-based narrative experience that is almost entirely built from scratch.”
Levine said the DLC would be a fan service and I’d say he certainly delivered on this. Squee.
