Hey! We already got our hands on a Dualshock 4, and it feels great. It makes the Dualshock 3 feel like a cheap play-thing, and I hate it. Yep, I said it. I hate the Dualshock 3. Thankfully, everything about the Dualshock 4 is improved.
Thanks to Sony's latest FAQ regarding anything and everything PS4, we get some insights on the DS4.
First and foremost, those worrying about battery life can rest easy knowing that its comparable to the PS3's Dualshock 3. That's fantastic news because I rarely charge that controller. The battery is truly fantastic. When you do need to recharge it however, it's going to take you about two hours to fully charge it.
One annoying aspect of charging the DS3 was that the PS3 required to be on, which didn't make sense if you had a really short cable. Thankfully, the DS4 can be charged using a PS4 that's in stand by mode.
The charging itself is done via the included Micro USB cable, however it is important to note that if you plan on buying extra controllers, those don't come with their own charge cables. That means you either have to switch them out when charging, or use another Micro USB cable that you already own. Chances are, given that many electronics and cell phones require these, you have an extra or few lying around somewhere.
Some info is also given on the Touchpad, which will support drag and drop, flicking and multi-touch input. On top of that, the Touchpad is clickable, allowing developers to utilize it in different ways.
Then there's the speaker, something we've seen done before on Wii Remotes, where certain game sounds would be projected through there, instead of the TV screen. In the case of the DS4, Killzone Shadow Fall will be broadcasting audio logs through it.
One of the best news however is that the Dualshock 4 will have less latency than previous controllers, which should make gamers very happy. Even though the latency is already quite low on the DS3, the fact that it's even better on the DS4 is pretty amazing.
