Everything you need to know about The Sims FreePlay Royalty Update

Yesterday, EA unleashed the Royalty Update for The Sims FreePlay, adding a majestic and mysterious castle to explore, a new quest, and the ability to become the King or Queen you were born to be — from level 14-plus that is.

"A magnificent castle has appeared shrouded in mystery!" EA teases. "Only those who are chivalrous, valiant, and honorable can lift the curse upon it and become the king or queen. Hurry, Sim Town is waiting for the rightful heir to the throne!"

So what's included in this new massive update?

For starters, you now have the option to build the Northern Glade Castle on the mysterious new island. Available from level 12, the cost will vary depending on how many other buildings you already have.

Once you build the castle, you can complete the Royal Lineage Quest (at level 14). If you complete this quest within 7 days of starting it, you will unlock the ability to buy pet fairies. Other features and additions include two new hobbies (Archery, Jester), new royal clothing, and the ability to create a royal family which I'm sure will become more clear once you build the castle.

As always, there's also a number of other tweaks and gameplay adjustments that you'll probably encounter as you continue to play.
