Developer Turtle Rock has been mighty busy since they revealed the campaign mode for their upcoming game Evolve. Busy doing what you ask? Well, they've been busy bringing a Beta test around.
This beta will be a little different than most betas, but it will be similar to the Big Alpha test where Xbox One players had exclusive access to the game prior for a short while. Let's get this out of the way before we get into the specifics on the Beta per platform, Evolve will not be playable offline during the Beta.
If you have an Xbox One and an Xbox Live Gold account consider yourself in the Beta. That's right folks, it's an Open Beta for all Xbox One and Xbox Live owners! No matter what console you're playing on, you are allowed to share and capture any footage you take (feel free to share it with the devs too).
Without further ado, here's what the beta will look like per game platform and when to expect it:
Xbox One:
- January 15th: "Hunt" mode will be available (the mode that was available in Big Alpha) with 12 maps, two monsters (Goliath [from the Big Alpha] and Kraken) and the first eight hunters.
- January 17th: The "Evacuation" campaign mode will become available.
- Any progress you make (Hunter and Monster unlocks) while playing the Xbox One Open Beta will carry over to the games launch on February 10th.
PC:
- Janurary 16th: Will not be available to everyone, you need to have been a part of the Big Alpha on PC or own Left 4 Dead or BioShock Infinite in your Steam library.
- "Evacuation" will not be included
- Progress will not carry over.
PS4:
- January 27th: Being a part of the Big Alpha will get you access to the small closed technical test – an email should tell you whether or not you are invited to the Beta
- "Evacuation" will not be included
- Progress will not carry over.
