Ex-GameStop VP pleads guilty after embezzling $2 million

The other day I snuck a piece of candy from a bowl my sister had set up for trick-or-treaters on Halloween. I immediately let her know, though, and she literally said, "Okay, whatever."

A similar thing happened to Frank Christopher Olivera, the former GameStop VP of corporate communications and public affairs. The dude totally snuck $1,965,900 from the company. Okay, so there's a difference between a Snickers bar and two million clams.

According to the federal indictment, Olivera was transferring funds from GameStop to Cloud Communications LLC, a fake company that was used to cover up his own personal account. This took place for a couple of years, lasting from July 2009 until April 2011.

On Thursday, Olivera plead guilty to one count of mail fraud for embezzling the cash. He's now looking at 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Okay, so maybe that isn't exactly similar to my chocolate snatching experience.
