Fallout 4 will be free to play this weekend on Steam and Xbox One

If you haven't strapped on your wanderer boots yet, now's the time.

If you've been holding off on exploring post-nuclear Boston in Bethesda's Fallout 4, this weekend may be the time to take the plunge. In a new post on the Bethblog, Bethesda announced that Fallout 4 will be getting its first ever free weekend beginning on May 25th and running until May 28th on both Steam and Xbox One. The free weekend will include all of the game's base content, and the ability to try out mods.

Additionally, the game and its Season Pass will be on sale on all three platforms, PC, PS4, and Xbox One with discounts of up to 67% off.

Here's a breakdown of the time frames:

  • Xbox One: 5/25/2017 at 12:01 AM PT through 5/28/2017 at 11:59 PM PT
  • Steam: 5/25/2017 at 10 AM PT through 5/28 at 1 PM PT

Fallout 4 is Bethesda's most successful game launch in their history, and while it may not be remembered quite as fondly as some of their other works like Fallout 3 or Skyrim, it's still a solid entry in the franchise.
