Daniel Craig, the star of the upcoming 007 film Spectre, has been playing the role of James Bond since 2006 and has openly expressed that he would like to move on with his life. If Craig leaves the franchise, who will be Bond?
Fans have begun placing their bets. Homeland star Idris Elba was the front-runner for quite a while, but the 007 author, Anthony Horowitz kind of ruined that by telling the Daily Mail that Elba is simply “too street” (he has since apologized) to be James Bond, leaving fans have begun to look elsewhere.
An online sports bookmaker in Ireland has polled the contenders and listed the odds of who would be in the coming film. It looks like our choices are: Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Michael Fassbender (X-Men), Richard Armitage, Orlando Bloom (Legolas) , Damien Lewis, Idris Elba, Dougray Scott, Rupert Friend and Dominic West.
Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road) is taking the lead, with a 4/1 betting odd – tied with Henry Cavill (Superman). The two are followed by Idris Elba and Damian Lewis with odds of 3/1. Honestly, these betting odds mean nothing – it's all here-say.
Personally, I love Hardy – but can't see him as James Bond… In fact I can't see any of these people as James Bond.
