Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon’s first fifteen minutes captured for the world to see

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a thing, we are finally aware of this, but what is it? That seems to be the million-dollar question at this point. However, IGN’s Ryan McCaffrey and Mitch Dyer got to answer that question for the Internet tonight, as they showcased the first fifteen minutes of this standalone expansion that literally has nothing to do with Far Cry 3.

The game itself is set in the 80’s with both its soundtrack and art style, including non-motion, comic book-styled cut scenes that feature the zany dialogue that Blood Dragon is sure to present throughout the full campaign.

From a story perspective, what was presented was fallout from a nuclear explosion. Your character, whose name you’ll have to find out in the video (for laughter purposes), is destroyed from the blast, but pieced back together by an unidentified agency. You’re then set off on a mission, which ensues some of the most wild, over-the-top gameplay we’ve seen since Saints Row: The Third.

Without going into too much detail, because you’ll want to catch the full video, and experience it for yourself below, the most notable piece in the gameplay video is the game’s tutorials. I’m going to go ahead and say it; please curse me if you find me wrong, but Blood Dragon’s tutorial is the best out there, undeniably for first-person shooters, that’s for sure. It’s a comical goldmine with each and every action involving some snarky response.

The actual gameplay, you ask? Check it out for yourself, but we’ll round it up in saying that it’s actually the most Far Cry 3 about Blood Dragon. It’s fun, it’s comfortable, but it’s not the reason you’ll want to purchase Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Though there’s no price yet, come May 1, you’ll want to jump online and grab this possible once in a lifetime expansion.
