Super Smash Bros. Wii U will take advantage of Nintendo’s upcoming NFC (near-field communication) tech in the form of figurines a la Skylanders, the company recently announced.
“E3 [will be] an opportunity to show the use of NFC technology on Nintendo consoles,” the company told French newspaper Le Figaro. “The NFC will be used in the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros.” How exactly the figures will play in remains to be seen.
In related news, you may be able to pick up a figurine of Fire Emblem’s Ike, but he’ll be coming to the game regardless. Ike’s appearance follows the confirmed return of Marth, meaning Roy, from Melee, is the only swordsman missing. You can see his full gameplay gallery here.
