More than six years in development, Final Fantasy Versus 13 is no longer happening, several sources have reported.
The game was reportedly canceled in the last few weeks, bringing down morale at Square Enix.
One source indicated that the company wants to let the game disappear quietly, instead of through a public announcement, which could negatively affect stock prices.
Another explained that resources and development had merged into what will be the next numeric title in the franchise, Final Fantasy XV, although it's unclear what this folding entails.
"We have no information on the status of Final Fantasy Versus XIII, but will be sure to update you as it becomes available," Square Enix told Kotaku.
