Final Fantasy XIV introduces Magitek nostalgia trailer

To make it quite clear, when it comes to my favorite games of all time it is a difficult choice between Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger. Yes, the mid 90s were a good time for me. So when I see words like “Magitek Armor," I need to know what it’s all about. Behold, there will be Magitek Armor in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

This entire video is a direct homage to Final Fantasy VI. It shows Terra Branford riding in the Magitek Armor alongside Vicks and Wedge on their way to Narshe. Boy, how 19 years of technological advances stepped up the graphics on the armors. In FFVI you don’t really get a sense of the intricacies of the Magitek Armor in-game compared to the concept art. In FFXIV the armor looks just like the concept art of yore. This strikes a nostalgic bone that makes me very happy to see how beautiful they look in game.

Lastly, the music playing in the trailer is the Terra Theme / Overworld Theme in FFVI which is also one of my favorite scores from any Final Fantasy game. So much love – nostalgia explosion. As a weird fun fact, Terra had blonde hair in art, but green hair in game.
