Final Fantasy XV’s free 2D side-scrolling spinoff, A King’s Tale is now available for everyone

Last week, Square Enix announced that they would be releasing Final Fantasy XV's free-to-play 2-D Side Scrolling Spinoff, A King's Tale to the entire world. They have officially followed up on that promise as A King's Tale is available to download right now on both PS4 and Xbox One. The game originally came out back in November and was a pre-order bonus for those who purchased the game through GameStop, though now, like most pre-order bonuses, it has proven to be a timed exclusivity, and you don't even need to own the full game to play it.

A King's Tale casts players in the role of Regis Lucis Caelum AKA Noctis' dad and is set 30 years before the events of Final Fantasy XV. Gameplay is pretty straightforward considering the genre, as players face off against hordes of monsters through several stages that they need to defeat. Chaining fancy combos and unleashing magic attacks help spice things up and make your tactics more efficient.

If you're interested in checking out A King's Tale, you can download it here on PS4 and here on Xbox One.
