The war on Adobe Flash has begun, both Mozilla and Facebook have called for the latest iteration of the software to be squashed. The calls for its death are due to the latest version of the Flash Player has being revealed to be easily exploitable by those with nefarious tendencies.
Vulnerability in the Flash Player allows hackers to execute malicious code, the bug has been described asĀ "the most beautiful Flash bug for the last four years."
The latest version of Mozilla's Firefox browser will automatically block the software until it is updated. Once updated the software will once again be enabled by the browser, essentially Mozilla will go back to using the software once it won't hurt their Firefox users. Mozilla isn't new to blocking software and plugins because of of vulnerabilities, in the past they've blocked Flash (again) and Java.
Facebook's chief security officer, Alex Stamos, on the other hand is calling to the complete death of the software. Stamos took to Twitter saying "It is time for Adobe to announce the end-of-life date for Flash and to ask the browsers to set killbits on the same day."
If you use Firefox, want to live dangerously and still want the Flash Player to be by the browser, you can enable it in settings.
