First Gameplay of 80’s Survival Game Generation Zero

Avalanche Studio has released the first gameplay trailer for their recently unveiled multiplayer survival game Generation Zero. The open-world first-person game boasts a unique Scandinavian ’80s style and offers solo and multiplayer gameplay. Check out the new gameplay trailer.

In June of this year, Avalanche Studios unveiled their newest open-world game, Generation Zero. Crafting beautiful and vast worlds is pretty much the expertise of the developer, who became synonymous with grand destruction in open worlds, with the Just Cause series and the video game adaptation of Mad Max.

Generation Zero on the other hand is seemingly offering a very different type of open-world experience. Yes, there is shooting and action but nowhere near to an extent as in Just Cause or Mad Max. It’s a rather subdued world, drenched in thick atmosphere, not big explosions.

The setting, for once, is reminiscent of horror movies, with a group of Swedish youngsters returning to their homes after an island retreat, only to find no population left. Homes are left behind, cars destroyed and a mystery afoot. Where did everyone go?

If that isn’t tense enough, the world is permeated by alien looking mechanical robots who ruthlessly hunt any humans unlucky enough to fall into their sights. Naturally, a more careful approach will be called for by the players. Using stealth tactics like setting traps, scavenging homes for valuable loot and planning ambushes against the robot invaders.

Preferably, this should be done with the help of others, as a single puny human will have a hard time cracking the tougher enemies, quite literally. You’ll be able to team up with up to three other players and try to survive the harsh world of Generation Zero.

Powered by the Apex Engine, Avalanche Studio’s proprietary world building tool used in Just Cause 4 and Rage 4, Generation Zero is already firmly at the top of delivering high-end visual fidelity in the multiplayer-survival genre.

Head on to the game’s website where you can sign up for a chance to receive an invitation for the Closed Beta or wait until  next year, when Generation Zero is set to come out for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
