My precccious next-gen!

Daedalic Entertainment has shown the gaming world the first screenshots of their highly-anticipated Lord of the Rings game. Titled The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, this stealth-action adventure is focusing on the iconic character of the same name which played a major role in the popular franchise of the same name. Check out the screenshots published today in our gallery below!

The German developer Daedalic Entertainment has fittingly chosen the German gaming publication Gamestar for the worldwide reveal of their new title. A lot is on the stake for the company who is mostly known for AA-budget adventure games. With the massive The Lord of the Rings IP hovering over their project, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum could very well become the stepping stone into the elite league of game creators.

In reaching this ambitious goal, LOTR: Gollum showcases an increase in graphical fidelity from the developer’s past titles. It’s certainly helping as well that The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is targeting a next-gen release. Not only that but by being a fully next-gen game, it’s ambitions aren’t held back by the technical limitations of the PS4 and Xbox One for the company.

Taking the mischievous Gollum as the game’s protagonist also means that the gameplay at hand has to fit. After all, putting the little fella into armor with a big sword wouldn’t really make a lot of sense. Instead, the game is going to be a stealth-adventure which should complement Gollum in a very lore-friendly manner. Carefully traversing dangerous Orc-infested lands of Middle-Earth while distracting and taking out them in clever ways sounds just like the thing Gollum would do. And there’s ought to be the welcome appearance of the one or other Lord of the Rings character as well.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is set to come out sometime next year for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
