For Honor reviews will not be coming out until after the game’s launch

Here's something nobody ever wants to see about a game they're looking forward to. Ubisoft has announced that reviewers around the world will not be able to play For Honor's final build until the game launches in full to the entire world. The reason for this is due to the game's unusually late Open Beta, which is due to wrap up just two days before the game launches.

It didn't always used to be this way, but another one of Ubisoft's titles seemingly single-handedly made the gaming world as a whole paranoid about a game's review scores coming out after its launch day. I'm talking of course, about Assassin's Creed: Unity, a game that had one of the most troubled launches of all time (or at least the internet made it seem that way), to the point where the game never quite recovered despite a number of major patches.

For Honor's brand is not nearly on the same plane as that of Assassin's Creed, but there's still considerable excitement surrounding the game from many gamers around the world, myself included. However, there have been a few red flags popping up in recent weeks that is making some players think twice about a Day 1 purchase, and now the revelation of For Honor's reviews coming out post-launch will only serve to enhance those fears.

Of course, there are reasons for optimism too. It's not as if Ubisoft has hidden the game from the public either. There's been a Closed Alpha and Beta, which have come back with mostly positive feedback, plus for those who didn't get it, the Open Beta, in theory, should give gamers enough time to decide if they like the game or not.

For Honor releases in full on Valentines Day, February 14th, 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
