Former Gears of War developer Cliff Bleszinski teases next project on Twitter

Former Gears of War mastermind Cliff Bleszinski took to Twitter yesterday to tease his first project since departing from EPIC Games on October 3 of last year.

According to Bleszinski, concept artist Shaddy Safadi, who previously worked on The Last of Us, created the artwork, which depicts a soldier standing amidst a sweeping canyon with two notably large sentries assembled in the backdrop. The developer himself has been quiet since ending his reign with the Gears of War series after shipping Gears of War 3; aside from his usual witty, yet thoughtful inputs on the industry at large of course. However, earlier this year, in an interview with VentureBeat, Bleszinski highlighted his desire to get back into development:

"One of the main things I've been considering is opening my own studio," Bleszinski said. "But the complication to that is, heavy is the head that wears the crown. If you have 150 people that you're responsible for, with their families and their children and all that, that's a lot of weight. The company depends on you."

"At the end of the day, I just want to do something that motivates me, that gets me out of bed. I've been able to be financially successful enough that the only work I have to do is the work that I want to do. It's a fortunate position.”
