Lionhead Studios has officially been shut down for over a year now. The studio was best known for Fable and was allegedly closed down over Microsoft's unwillingness to sell the franchise. Whatever the reason for the studio's closure, there's hope for the franchise yet – as well as the folks who once worked on it.
Stuart Whyte, the former studio director at Lionhead, has found a new position with PlayStation. Next week, Whyte will be starting his new position at Sony's London Studio as the director of VR product development. Sony's London Studio is best known for experimental projects, such as SingStar, EyePet, Wonderbook and The Playroom and their VR efforts, like PlayStation VR Worlds.
"I'm super excited to be joining the London team to lead them further on their journey to becoming the world's leading AAA, VR Team," Whyte told GamesIndustry.biz.
Prior to his new position with Sony, Whyte held various positions at Lionhead, including operations director, head of production, and executive producer. He worked with Xbox as the chief publishing officer, as well as held a number of senior roles at other game studios.
