Fox Turned Down a Judge Dredd vs Death Movie

2012's Dredd was a very well received by Judge Dredd fans and has become a sort of cult classic. Its fame may have come after the movie's initial release, which could make a sequel warranted, but that didn't stop 20th Century Fox from turning down a sequel anyway.

The creative team behind 2012's Dredd were specifically interested in a Dredd vs Death movie, but according to Judge Dredd co-creator John Wagner in an interview with ScreenGeek:

" I wouldn’t mind seeing that. That was actually the first script that Alex Garland did was a Judge Death script but Fox, who they were dealing with at the time, turned it down. They wanted more nuts and bolts before they went into the [metaphysical]."

Interestingly enough,  Wagner seemed adamant about a sequel coming in some form, even though the "how" was yet to be determined. There was even discussion of it being a TV series, which Wagner admitted it would work well as, but hadn't given up hope on a big screen release.

How many times has Fox stopped good things from happening? We still remember what you did to Firefly! Please, Fox, it's your duty to entertain the masses. Failing to do so makes you guilty. The sentence – IS DEATH!
