Friday the 13th reboot to be origin film, but not found footage

The Friday the 13th reboot has certainly been put through the ringer. It's been in development hell for quite a while now, but recent reports say that the movie is finally "on the right track" for it's January 2017 release (it was meant to release in 2015, then 2016, now 2017).

According to Friday the 13th producer Brad Fuller, the reboot will be a new origin film, but will not include the motion sickness inducing found footage camera format.

“Origin-ish, but it’s an origin that no one has seen before. Obviously Pamela’s there, but it’s a little bit different from what you’ve seen before,” said Fuller to TheReelWorld (via GamesRadar). "There was a lot of found-footage scripts that they wanted us to make and I was not going to do that because I don’t think that can exist in Jason Voorhees’ world."

Pamela is Jayson Voorhees' mother who originally killed the camp counsellors. So, if this movie is an origin movie – it looks like we're all going to camp.

In addition to that information, Fuller revealed that the movie would help us better "understand Jason Voorhees" and that the script features "great characters."
