One of the most infamous PlayStation 4 exclusives is less than a week away from its long-awaited PC release with Death Stranding. The somewhat confusing and definitely unique action-adventure game by Kojima Productions became synonymous with the PlayStation brand even before its inception.

After legendary game designer Hideo Kojima and venerable Japanese publisher Konami parted their decades-long partnership in a pretty ugly way back in 2015, Kojima almost immediately started a partnership with Sony to create a PlayStation 4 exclusive. Naturally, the news hit like a bomb. One of the most well-known game creators was making a Sony exclusive.

It turned out that this publishing deal with the now-independent designer was only a timed-deal but Xbox One owners would still not be able to enjoy the work. In the end, it was the PC platform, the natural ground as it is often treated by console platform holders, that would be getting Death Stranding port.

And recent previews are painting a promising picture for the PC version. Not only is the game offering the expected upgrades in the form of ultra-high resolutions and unlocked framerates, but it’s apparently possible to achieve both with relatively modest hardware to boot.

Even the entry-level RTX GPUs by Nvidia are able to push 4K resolutions at blistering 60fps thanks to the hardware company’s proprietary DLSS technology. Similar to how checkerboard rendering on certain PS4 games allowed 4K resolution upscaling, DLSS enables pristine image quality at 4K. But in this case, it’s AI technology and deep learning that allow it.

This makes the value proposition of getting a new RTX card even better since you know that Death Stranding will run and look great on even an RTX 2060.
