Goldar is getting complete redesign for upcoming Power Rangers movie

It seems that the only thing Lionsgate is keeping from the original Power Rangers is the names. After getting looks at the newly redesigned Zords, Megazord, Alpha 5  and Rita, we now have our first look at her main henchman Goldar.

Fans of the original show will remember that Goldar was a mix of a monkey, a bat, and a lion. Although his name was Goldar, he was not totally gold, but rather had the color prominently featured. Lionsgate revealed the design for his new look in the upcoming movie and it seems they went all in on the "gold" portion of his name. Power Rangers is an iconic franchise and is beginning its 24th season next month on Nickelodeon with Ninja Steel. Being around that long, fans become attached to their favorite ones and changing such a classic character can have devastating results, even if the story surrounding them is stellar.

Take a look at "Goldar" below, and let us know what you think. Personally, it looks like a melted clay mold to me, what about you? #NOTMYGOLDAR

Power Rangers releases in theaters March 24th, 2017

Ok, I'm sorry. I know. Here's the original one to get that image out of your head.
