An online petition for a PC version of Rockstar's open-world crime game Grand Theft Auto 5 has collected more than 650,000 signatures.
"GTA games have been a large part of so many people's lives, and it's a big shame not seeing the newest iteration of the game being released on the most powerful platform," part of the petition reads. "Things like modifications have always been a HUGE part of PC gaming, and modded GTA is some of the most insanely fun times you can have."
Publisher Rockstar Games is considering a PC version, but one has not been confirmed, nor have any for other platforms, like Wii U. Rockstar is currently focused on both the multiplayer mode, Grand Theft Auto Online (most recently, with a new title update designed to prevent cheating and exploits), and the single-player downloadable content planned for this year.
The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions alone earned more than $1 billion in the first three days of launch. GTA 4, which launched for the same platforms in 2008, eventually came to PC seven months later, so by the same pattern, we could expect a PC release of GTA 5 closer to summer.
