Grand Theft Auto 5 protagonist is ‘an East Coast gangster’

Although we're set to receive our first batch of in-depth Grand Theft Auto 5 details later today, this week's issue of ShortList magazine has already spilled the beans on some crucial information pertaining to the game's main character.

The magazine contains a brief summary, explaining, "The protagonist is an East Coast gangster" who moved to Los Santos, Rockstar's take on Los Angeles and south California, for a fresh, new start.

"But, as in The Godfather III – just as he thought he was out, they pulled him back in," the magazine reveals.

The same source also revealed a single new screenshot from GTA 5 showing off a man (presumably the protagonist) on a jet ski that includes the logo of Los Santos Beach lifeguard. The image has since been removed, but the man appears to be the same one from the announcement trailer.

It's been a busy past few weeks for Rockstar Games and their highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 5. In late October they announced the game would release in spring 2013 for Xbox 360 and PS3. The next trailer, which I assume will divulge more information about the plot and characters is set to premiere on November 14, 2012. Pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto 5, despite knowing no information about the game, began earlier this week.
