Grand Theft Auto has always been a game where you can escape reality and play as somebody that can pretty much lie, cheat and steal their way out of every situation – but now has it all went too far?
The latest GTA Online hack has been brandished not only an in-game act of criminality, but criminal in reality as gamers are having money stole from them right under their very noses.
As you may know, unless you have exploited one of the game's many hacks in the past or done a hell of a lot of missions, gamers more often than not pay for the cash that they have in the game, therefore this hack could well be stealing real money too.
Public Lobbies have been hit with what's been described as an "Insurance Fraud" hack, but how will you know that it's affected you? Let's take a look:
This glitch allows fraudsters to spawn high-end personal vehicles and take ownership of them, however when the vehicle is destroyed and explodes, the hacker is not required to pay for damages in the usual manner. Instead, the player using the hack can select somebody in the lobby and force them to pay the insurance fee.
According to one thread on Reddit, players' accounts are not only being emptied until Rockstar get a grip of the issue either, apparently the money lost in this way will be non-refundable.
The payments being deducted from accounts are not that of a small fortune either, some gamers have reportedly been hit with charges over $80,000 – not just once either, on a number of occasions.
Many people have been left angered by this hack and to add insult to injury, some are even being labelled as "BadSport" for something that they haven't even done.
Just finally, on an obvious note, it would therefore be advisable to stay clear of GTA Online's public lobbies until Rockstar fix the issue. However, if you have been affected by this hack then let us know in the comments section below.
