Guacamelee! arriving for PS3 and Vita

The "Mexican-themed, co-op multiplayer, dimension-swapping, Metroid-vania, beat-'em-up platformer" Guacamelee! is scheduled for release on the PS3 and Vita.

DrinkBox Studios is developing the title, which will debut through the PlayStation Pub Fund program. According to COO Graham Smith, the connection to the Pub Fund means the game will launch exclusively on the PlayStation Network for both Sony systems and will "take advantage of the special features offered by each of the platforms (details of these to come later — stay tuned)." This deal assists with marketing and development budgets. Another current title in this category is Minority Media's Papo & Yo.

Guacamelee! stars a down-on-his-luck farmer named Juan Aguacate, who sets out to save El Presidente’s daughter from her kidnapper, the Evil Charro Skeleton. Players travel through “The World of the Living” and “The World of the Dead."
