DrinkBox Studios' Metroidvania, brawling platformer, Guacamelee! is coming to PlayStation 4. Rebranded as the Super Turbo Championship Edition, the PS4 version features new powers, like INTENSO. Once you fill your combo meter, you can unleash INTENSO for a brief boost to the damage and speed of your attacks, as well as your movement.
In addition to the new power, DrinkBox has polished the combat and added some upgrades, while expanding Juan's story with two new, "huge" levels and a three-headed, one-man Mariachi-band boss. There's also a new class of Elite enemies.
Because this version has a lot of content not seen in the original game, it won't support cross-saves. DrinkBox also confirmed there are no plans to bring the Super Turbo Championship Edition to PS3 or Vita at this point.
"We're putting a lot of effort into getting the game on consoles we've never shipped on before," explained DrinkBox's Graham Smith. "We’re a small studio and it takes a lot of work to bring the game to a new platform. We chose to focus on bringing it to new consoles because, while there is a lot of new content in STCE, PS3 owners still have the original Guac."
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition will be released for PS4 later this year.
