Guild Wars 2, which has sold over 2 million copies since its launch three weeks ago, is spreading its reach to the Mac community. NCsoft and ArenaNet announced today the game will be supported on Apple's Mac OS X, with a Mac Beta client available immediately for all Guild Wars 2 players.
Anyone who has purchased Guild Wars 2 will be able to download the Mac version, although it is still being optimized. Unlike other betas, it is connected to the live servers, allowing everyone to play together on both Mac and Windows based computers.
"Bringing Guild Wars 2 to the Mac is huge for us, because it introduces the game to an entire group of players who are often ignored by game developers," ArenaNet said.
You can access the Mac beta client through the Guild Wars 2 account management website after activating your game code. Bringing Guild Wars 2 to the Mac required ArenaNet to work with with TransGaming, whose Cider technology allows us to mirror the game experience as closely as possible between the PC and Mac. This approach means that future updates to Guild Wars 2 will be available for both platforms simultaneously.
