As Gwent pushes ever closer to its full releases, CD Projekt RED is changing up the promo material to give us a look at a different side of the game. Thronebreaker is the name of the game's campaign mode, which to this point has been kept pretty much entirely under wraps until now thanks to a new trailer (embedded above).
In Thronebreaker, players take on the role of Meve, a war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms facing an imminent foreign invasion. To save her realm, she is forced to take "a dark journey of destruction and revenge," as she sets out on the warpath once again. The campaign will explore parts of the world of The Witcher that haven't been depicted in a game to date.
Players will embark on quests, gather resources, and engage in custom-made story battles, which will change up the standard rules of the game on a whim.
There's still no release date yet in sight for Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, but it is expected to launch sometime later this year.
