Gwent: The Witcher Card Game will be getting a new faction, Nilfgaard in February

Gwent: The Witcher Card Game has quietly had a very solid Closed Beta, and as development continues along, CD Projekt RED has announced that a new content update is inbound. The headliner for the new content update will be an all new faction, the Nilfgaardian Empire, and with it will come a set of all new mechanics that can change the course of a card battle.

Nilfgaard's big hook is that they can see cards in their opponent’s hand, control the order of said cards, and use trickery based on the use of disloyal units. Doing these things gives the player an unprecedented amount of control over what goes down on the battlefield, but it remains to be seen how CD Projekt RED will offset the balance of this advantage.

The new update will also bring a host of new cards into Gwent, bringing the total to over 60 unique cards. The new additions will include faction-specific cards as well as neutral cards. The update is set to roll out on February 6th, so expect more details to come out then.

If you are interested in taking part in the Gwent Beta, you can head over here to register.
