Halo 1, 3, ODST, and 4 are coming to Xbox One via backward compatibility with DLC

Every Halo game available on one console.

For the last couple of years, Microsoft has been actively pushing their backward compatibility feature on Xbox One. Hundreds of Xbox 360 games have become playable on Xbox One including some classics, some lesser known titles, and maybe some games we wish we could forget.

In the very near future, four of the best Xbox 360 games will be joining the catalog of backward compatible games. Today, 343 Industries announced that Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4 will come to the Xbox 360 in their original glory. That's right, all those classic forge maps, the original graphics, mechanics, the full blown original Halo experience. In addition to that, all Halo map packs for Xbox 360 will be made free on the Xbox Store!

The games have been available via the Master Chief Collection but some games like Halo 3 don't feel exactly the same due to the lack of the original custom games maps people had created on Xbox 360. On top of that, the game launched with lots of issues, some of which have yet to be fixed.

There's no release date on the games but 343 promises to have more information very soon.
