Han Shot First, but There’s Another Deleted Scene Involving a Rodian in A New Hope

Greedo's actor Paul Blake recently revealed the existence of a shoot-out scene with Han Solo that was deleted from Star Wars: A New Hope. Originally, Greedo was still shot in the cantina (Han shot first, of course!) but Blake actually played a second Rodian later in the act.

Sci Fi Central interviewed over 100 actors from the Star Wars movies, with Paul Blake being one of them. He told them about the scene that was deleted. He starts by mentioning the scene where Jabba the Hutt threatens Han Solo in docking bay 94. Blake played a Rodian in the background of that scene, and originally, another sequence follows.

"Absolutely I was the Rodian in that, that’s right. And in fact there’s a brilliant little sequence which I loved doing with Harrison [Ford], where we were shooting at each other like cowboys and Indians. We had this big gun battle which lasted all morning and then Stormtroopers came out of the big double doors and we started firing at them. So we had this fantastic scene and of course that’s all gone. But I’m sure George [Lucas] has got that all at Skywalker Ranch."

In the final cut, instead of this big shoot-out that ends with Han the unknown Rodian teaming up to shoot at Stormtroopers, we just see Han prepping the Falcon and leaving when the troopers burst through the doors.

The cut scene would have been really cool, seeing two previous enemies fighting off a common nemesis, but at the time it may have muddied the story up a bit, as we didn't have the full picture as we do today.

If the scene still exists, it's somewhere in Skywalker Ranch. We'd love to see it in a DVD/Blu-Ray extra, but it doesn't seem to be in the works anytime soon.
