Harry Potter prequel ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ has begun filming

Centaurs?

Whether or not you were aware of J.K. Rowling's prequel to Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find, is a real thing and it has started filming today. The film will take us into a world that Hagrid would love (minus Harry Potter and his crew), a world filled with magical creatures.

The film follows Newt Scamander (played by Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne from The Theory of Everything), the wizarding world's preeminent magizoologist, who stops in New York following his travels to find and document magical creatures. All of Newts endeavors and findings become the very things that Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger  will study when they eventually made their way to the legendary Hogwarts School of Witchcraft.

The film also stars Katherine Waterston (Inherent Vice) as Tina and Alison Sudol (Dig, Transparent) as Tina's sister, Queenie.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set to release on November 18, 2016.
