Kids these days are going to be growing up with a new set of Ghostbusters — female ghostbusters. To date, all we've seen are a few sneak peek images and leaked shots from the set of our leading ladies, but today we finally have official names we can put with their faces.
Confirmed by director Paul Feig and matched up by IMDB, we've got Melissa McCarthy as Abby Yates, Kristen Wiig as Erin Gilbert, Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan, and Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzmann.
I mean, it's no Peter Venkman or Egon Spengler, but this is a new crew, a new generation of Ghostbusters. I'm anxious to see what they can do with the franchise.
Obviously Ghostbusters diehards are going to hate anything new, but rest easy knowing that regardless of how the new film turns out, the originals will always be the ones shown on television.
Unfortunately, I don't think the new names lend themselves as easily to punny jokes like this…
