Here are the Nominees for The Game Awards 2018, Vote Now!

The Game Awards has unveiled the full list of Nominees for this year’s show. Votings are open now, so head on over to the game’s voting page here and let your voice be heard! Check out the accompanying Nominees trailer as well.

The 5th annual Game Awards show is closing in and the committee has finally unveiled all nominees and their respective categories. It’s the largest lineup of nominees in the show’s admittedly young history. Across a smattering of 30 categories, this year’s games are vying for gamer’s votes.

The Game Awards is always a fun event as a retrospective of the year for gaming but also has a couple neat surprises in form of world-premiers. Whether it’s game announcements or new footage. This year will be no different.

No doubt, the most important category is as usual Game of the Year. Nominees for this prestigious award are:

Game of the Year

  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – Ubisoft Quebec/Ubisoft
  • Celeste – Matt Makes Games
  • God of War – SIE Santa Monica Studio/Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man – Insomniac Games/Sony Interactive Entertainment
  • Monster Hunter: World – Capcom
  • Red Dead Redemption 2 – Rockstar Games

Yep, you are seeing correct. Amidst the usual AAA blockbuster suspects is indeed one indie game in Celeste. It’s a pretty great sign as to how the indie scene has matured over the past years and has become home to fantastic games that don’t have to hide behind the shadows of traditional big releases.

Geoff Keighley will once again present The Game Awards

Fitting of the modern interconnected world gamers live in, Esports are playing a bigger role than ever, with 7 categories dedicated to them. Also, the Trending Gamer award has been renamed into Content Creator of the Year. It’s still all about popularity on Twitch/YouTube. Here are the nominees for both:

Content Creator of the Year

  • Dr. Lupo
  • Myth
  • Ninja
  • Pokimane
  • Willyrex

Best Esports Game:

  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive – Valve Corporation
  • Dota 2 – Valve Corporation
  • Fortnite – Epic Games
  • League of Legends – Riot Games
  • Overwatch – Blizzard Entertainment

It’s noteworthy that PlayerUnknown’s Battleground – PUGB – is not nominated for any category this year. At last year’s show it not only was nominated in 3 categories, it also won Best Multiplayer Game. Looks like PUBG couldn’t crack into the Esport Category. It’s direct competitor Fortnite managed however.

The Game Awards 2018 will stream live on December 6th, and you can watch it for free on a variety of services. You can check out all viewing platforms here.
