Today, Bungie updated Destiny with a new in-game currency called Silver. This currency can be purchased by Destiny players with real-world money, prices for the currency start at $5.00 and top off at $20 (for now). Silver will be used by players to purchase emotes for their Guardians and the update has added 18 new emotes to the game.
There are two types of emotes available, Rare and Legendary. A Rare emote will cost you 200 Silver and a Legendary emote will cost you 500 Silver – meaning you could spend all of the silver you paid $5.00 for on one single emote.
If you were looking to purchase all of the available emotes, you'll be looking at spending somewhere around $40. The most Silver you can purchase at once is 2,000 (for $20)and it comes with 300 bonus Silver, so to get the 4,200 that all 18 emotes cost… You'll need to purchase two of the $20 packs. You'll have a couple Silver left, but Bungie will add more emotes – without a doubt.
That's if you don't play Destiny the day the update goes live. Playing today will give you 400 Silver – meaning you will only need 3,800 Silver for all the emotes, which will have you spending around $35 on the required Silver.
If you purchased the Digital Collector's Edition and already owned Destiny (along with its expansions), you will have an extra 2,000 Silver in your account.
