Like basically all cop-dramas, the single-player story for Battlefield: Hardline will revolve around a framed police officer name Nick who is out to clear his name.
The first details of Hardline's story were revealed at San Diego Comic-Con. During Visceral Games' panel, Wndey Calhoun, narrative consultant, explained that Hardline will "start off with the narrative of two cops who are good cops, and one really wants to prove himself.
"Eventually the tables turn on them, and they are set up by another group and become criminals themselves. They've got to fight their way out of prison, and turn the tables on the people who put them there."
A brief video was shown during the panel featuring an ensemble cast while also showing what appears to be the turning point where teh player gets framed and turns to the underworld. As explained by those in attendance, it appears that an undercover team led by Nick disrupts a huge cocaine manufacturing warehouse led by a crime lord named Roark.
Overall, it seems like a decent plot, if one that feeds off the classic "clear my name" trope we so often see in cop dramas. Battlefield games tend to lean more on the multiplayer to attract consumers, but a decent story to go along with mindless multiplayer combat could be a fun experience.
Battlefield: Hardline was originally due out in October, but EA announced its delay to early 2015 last week.
