As you're probably very much aware, Star Wars Celebration kicks off today, promising fans a weekend full of, well, Star Wars celebrating. Included in that are first looks at EA's upcoming game Star Wars Battlefront, as well as speculation that today could see the debut of a new trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
While we'll have to wait for the opening keynote panel for a possible look at the new film, fan site Star Wars Underworld has managed to sneak in a bit early and grab what appears to be the official program for Star Wars Celebration.
The program promises fans in attendance the first to see "an incredible collection of props, models, costumes, and more used in the production of Star Wars: The Force Awakens." This includes the new stormtrooper costume, which is also shown in the program. Although we got a brief look at stormtroopers in the previous trailer, the program offers a full look at the armor.
I like it. It's simple, like the original trilogy; however, the helmet does appear to be updated. I don't like it on its own, but the image with all the stormtroopers standing in the shuttle is pretty menacing.
On a related note, throughout the week, EA has been sharing photos of a stormtrooper in their upcoming game Star Wars Battlefront which will release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC this holiday season. Its launch will coincide with release of the new film, Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, which will hit theaters December 18, 2015.
For those of you not in attendance at Star Wars Celebration, many of the weekend's events — including the kickoff panel with Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy — will be livestreamed.
