By now it's common knowledge that someone somewhere inevitably ends up with an early copy of a game that hasn't come out yet, only to turn around and post about it on the internet. While many of these people are only in it for the ego trip, there are some that are legitimately helpful in getting pertinent information out to people who are trying to make an informed purchase with their hard earned cash. Reddit user Lordidude definitely falls into the latter, as they revealed in an AMA that they were able to get their hands on an early copy of the game, which they played on a PS4 Pro on a 4K Toshiba without HDR.
With those specs in mind, Lordidude revealed that Horizon: Zero Dawn is indeed locked at 30 FPS even while playing on the PS4 Pro. It's worth noting that even though the game can't double its frame rate on the added hardware, the game has absolutely no slow down, so it appears that Guerrilla Games decided to emphasize visuals a tad more than framerate, but the game still performs very reliably on a technical level.
Another thing that stood out in the AMA was that Lordidude compared Horizon: Zero Dawn's gameplay to The Last of Us of all games. It's not a comparison that has immediately struck me as apparent, but it seems the game's emphasis on Stealth gameplay and crafting were major defining factors in this.
When asked what makes Horizon: Zero Dawn similar to The Last of Us, Lordidude said:
Gathering resources, crafting and stealth. But there's way more to craft and resources are plenty.
Horizon: Zero Dawn releases in full on February 28th, 2017 exclusively for PS4.
