It has been confirmed today that the iconic Hulk Hogan has been removed from the upcoming WWE 2K16 title, with it understood that the racial slurs leading to his termination from the WWE being the main concern.
GameZone reported earlier this week that Hogan as well as a few other WWE legends wouild be included in the new wrestling video game, however 2K has confirmed Hogan's removal.
“We are highly respectful of the way that our partners choose to run their business and manage our partnerships accordingly. We can confirm that Hulk Hogan will not appear in WWE 2K16" read 2K Sports' recent statement.
Hulk Hogan's profile and the majority of his content has reportedly been removed from WWE.com since his dismissal, and as a result Hogan has issued an apology.
“It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language. There is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it. This is not who I am.”
The former world champion has been very active on Twitter in the last 24 hours, inisisting that he is not a racist and responding to many of his fans.
WWE has seemingly taken a no-nonsense approach on the situation, and current WWE superstar Mark Henry has applauded the company accordingly. Henry responded to Hogan's comments and the situation today via Twitter:
