This is one of the many reasons I love J.J. Abrams. He has the uncanny ability to take a popular sci-fi franchise and inject much needed life into it — from the cast to the design.
And according to images posted by Indie Revolver, the Stormtroopers in Star Wars Episode VII will have an updated look.

I'm diggin' it. Indie Revolver updated their post with another image of the helmet. Apparently, RPF — a site dedicated to replicas of movie props — have a prop image of the new Stormtrooper helmet:
Overall, it's a much-needed update to the classic Stormtrooper helms we were raised on, and it looks like it belongs in the Star Wars universe.
