If this is the new Stormtrooper design for Star Wars Episode 7, I love it

This is one of the many reasons I love J.J. Abrams. He has the uncanny ability to take a popular sci-fi franchise and inject much needed life into it — from the cast to the design.

And according to images posted by Indie Revolver, the Stormtroopers in Star Wars Episode VII will have an updated look.

Here's the tweeted images of what appears to be the new Stormtrooper and Snowtrooper:

I'm diggin' it. Indie Revolver updated their post with another image of the helmet. Apparently, RPF — a site dedicated to replicas of movie props — have a prop image of the new Stormtrooper helmet:

Overall, it's a much-needed update to the classic Stormtrooper helms we were raised on, and it looks like it belongs in the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars Episode VII releases in theaters on December 18, 2015. The movie stars Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, Christina Chong, Crystal Clarke and Pip Anderson.
