Infinity Ward: Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will push the hardware ‘a lot further’ than previous entries

It's only been one day since Call of Duty: Infinity Warfare was officially revealed, and already it feel like we've known about it for a while. Which is because we have. In a Q&A livestream with PlayStation, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Narrative Director Taylor Kurosaki and Design Director Jacob Minkoff sat down with Sid Shuman to talk about some of the nitty gritty details about the game including narrative, technological aspirations and gameplay.

Here are some of the things that stood out.

Players will have access to a mothership, the Retribution, that will serve as a hub between mission. It can travel to various locations in space and comes equipped with an armory where you will speak to a quartermaster who will advise loadouts for missions based on the information you have gathered.

The game's three year development cycle has allowed Infinity Ward to their hardware "a lot further.” An example of this is something they are calling “Seamlessness”, a technology that completely eliminates loading screens to create a much larger and more interconnected game world.
For example, the player can be standing flat on the ground on Earth and call down their fighter jet. They can then jump into it and fly up into space and take part in a dogfight. After the battle is over, they can fly over to the mothership, land on it, jump out of their fighter jet, up to the bridge, find the mission map and select the next one all without experiencing a single pause. This is the largest Call of Duty game we have ever seen.
The story of Infinite Warfare will not be tied into Infinity Ward's last outing, Call of Duty: Ghosts in any way. This is a completely new sub-franchise that could very well see sequels in the future.
Despite a heavy amount of skepticism from the YouTube crowd, I'm finding a lot of very intriguing details about what we can expect from Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare this Holiday season.
