After days of teasing us with images and brief clips, Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures have released the first official trailer for Iron Man 3. And boy was it worth the wait.
The trailer begins by showing us a position we're not used to seeing Tony Stark in — on the ground in a forest, mask removed revealing a bloodied face, and the arc reactor on his chest blinking indicating his near defeat. We've seen Iron Man in trouble before, but never this isolated.
This is all appears to be a result of Stark's new enemy, The Mandarin, who have used the extremis virus to create an army of very Iron-Man-like soldiers.
In the film Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, and Jon Favreau will reprise their roles as Pepper Potts, James "Rhodey" Rhodes and Happy Hogan, respectively. Added to the cast are newcomers Ben Kingsley (as the supervillain The Mandarin), Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, James Badge Dale and Ashley Hamilton.
Judging from the trailer, this seems to be the biggest film in the trilogy, in terms of production. We're still ways away from its May 3, 2013 release date, but this trailer does serve well in feeding our appetite for Iron Man 3.
