Is Batman a villain in Injustice: Gods Among Us!? New trailer shows the battle lines being drawn

We've been teased with glorious gameplay footage and character reveals for Injustice: Gods Among Us. We've got a lengthy roster of DC superheroes duking it out for reasons unknown to us. It's time Warner Bros. Interactive and DC Entertainment explains why the heck all of these characters are fighting in the same universe.

On several occasions, developer NeatherRealm Studios has offered bits of information about the story, like how the Joker plays an integral part in it. Or that there is a big twist in the way they present Superman in the game. How does it all fit together!?

Today, a new Injustice: Gods Among Us trailer was released, and although it doesn't fully reveal anything, it does begin to explore the story — particularly providing the first glimpse of the battle lines being drawn among heroes and villains. We begin to learn why some characters are fighting. For instance, Wonder Woman looks like she's here to save mankind while Lex Luther seems to want to crush the heroes.

I'm all sorts of confused, but perhaps the biggest twist comes at the very end with Batman proclaiming, "We have hidden in the shadows long enough. We must stand up to this regime once and for all." Then it cuts out to him fighting ALONGSIDE Lex Luther AGAINST Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Flash.

Oh boy, it looks like the battle lines have been drawn and our beloved Dark Knight might be on the villain side…depending on which side you consider that to be…I can't wait to see more! Injustice: Gods Among Us launches in April on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U.
